SCGC signed a partnership agreement with Takatof Association for Development to renovate and upgrade Omar Ibn El Khattab Preparatory School for boys in Kafr Selim, a very poor district of Suez governorate. The development project, worth LE 2 million, seeks to provide students and teachers with a modern learning environment that is conducive to academic success.
The school has been completely upgraded and refurbished and more than 800 pupils, including children with special needs, can now benefit from better, brighter, warmer classrooms thanks to this initiative. The project's activities includes also training courses addressed to the 61 teachers, the administrative staff of the school and the pupils' parents. Suez Cement and Takatof NGO are currently working on developing new activities, with the involvement of Suez Cement's employees, to tackle the project sustainability challenges.
This development project, which started in July 2014, is considered a successful model of cooperation between the private sector, the government and the Civil Society (CSO) in improving the standard of school buildings so that pupils learn in high quality classrooms and teachers have access to the best facilities.
